Before you start
Check you have these 4 basics before starting the timer. Without them you can't move on:
What you need on hand:
- Smart TV or HDMI monitor — 32" minimum for a visible room. Any non-CRT TV from the last 12 years works.
- Streaming device if the TV isn't Smart — Fire Stick (£40) is the most common. Chromecast with Google TV or an Android TV box also work.
- Venue wifi with password on hand — the Digisini app needs cloud access at least once to set up.
- Phone with camera and internet — to create the account and scan the pairing QR.
The 12 steps: tick as you go
Each step takes 15 to 90 seconds. Realistic total: 8-12 minutes first time, 5 minutes from the second screen onwards. Tap the box on the left of each step to mark it done.
- 01
Check or buy a device
If your TV is Smart with Android TV / Google TV, skip to step 4. Otherwise grab a Fire TV Stick (£40) on Amazon. Arrives in 24-48 h.
- 02
Plug the device into the TV
Insert the Fire Stick (or other) in a free HDMI port. Plug its power cable into the wall (not into the TV's USB port — it needs more watts).
- 03
Connect to the venue wifi
Switch the TV to the HDMI channel of the device. Follow the device's prompts to enter the wifi password. If the wifi drops every 30 min, ask the venue admin to extend the DHCP lease.
- 04
Create a free Digisini account
From your phone go to app.digisini.com/register. Just email + password. No credit card. Confirm the email you receive.
- 05
Pick the sector template
In the panel pick one of 6 verticals: Hospitality · Retail · Clinic · Salon · Gym · Hotel. Each has pre-set use cases (digital menu, queue number, offers, hours).
- 06
Customise the first content
Replace the placeholder logo with yours (upload a JPG/PNG). Change the venue name and basic details. Edit the first message (menu price, next offer, etc.).
- 07
Install the Digisini app on the device
On Fire Stick / Android TV open the app store. Search "Digisini". Download and install (≈30 seconds). The app asks for wifi and display permissions.
- 08
Pair: scan the QR from your phone
When the app opens, a large QR code shows on screen. From the web panel on your phone tap "Pair new device" and scan the QR with the phone camera. Pairing confirms in 2-3 seconds.
- 09
Check your content appears
In 3-5 seconds the screen moves from the pairing screen to your customised content from step 6. If nothing appears, restart the app (Home button → long press → close).
- 10
Set on/off schedule (optional)
In the panel: Screen → Schedule. Set on time (e.g. 7 AM) and off time (e.g. 10 PM). Useful to save power and panel life. Not required.
- 11
Schedule first flash or event (optional)
If you've an upcoming offer or event: Content → New → Flash. Set start (e.g. tomorrow 1:30 PM) and end (2 PM). The screen turns it on and off on its own.
- 12
Move to Starter when you want to drop the watermark
Free plan shows "Digisini" in a corner. To remove it: My account → Plan → Starter (€9/mo). Card or direct debit accepted. Cancel anytime.
You're done. From now on you change any content from your phone in 3-5 seconds and the screen updates itself. If something didn't work, see the troubleshooting section below.
No account yet? Takes 1 minute to create
Free plan forever with watermark, no card. When it works, move up to Starter.
Start freeSteps specific by device
The 12 general steps work for any device. Here are the device-specific nuances:
Fire TV Stick (recommended)
The easiest. Digisini app in the Amazon Appstore directly. Setup 5-7 min. Works with any HDMI TV. £40 on Amazon. See the dedicated page.
Chromecast with Google TV
Works just as well. App in the Google TV Play Store. Setup 6-8 min (first Chromecast setup needs a Google account). See the Chromecast page.
Dedicated Android TV box
More stable long-term. Xiaomi, Nvidia Shield brands etc. App in Play Store. Setup 5-7 min. £70-£130. See the Android TV page.
Samsung Tizen / LG webOS
If the Smart TV is native Samsung/LG. Digisini app in Samsung App Store (LG in progress). Skip steps 1-2-7. Setup 4-6 min. Recommended only for newer TVs (2023+).
Troubleshooting: 5 most common issues
If something didn't work, this is what we see in support 80 % of the time:
Black screen when opening the app
Usually a wifi connection issue. Check the device is on wifi (icon top right on Fire Stick). If connected but not loading, restart the device (unplug 10 seconds and plug back in).
Wifi drops every 30 minutes
Some ISP routers have short DHCP leases. Ask the admin to extend to 24 h or more. Workaround: connect the device via Ethernet cable (more reliable than wifi for 24/7 signage).
QR not recognised by the camera
Make sure you have good light and the QR fills half the viewfinder. If it doesn't work, in the web panel tap "Show manual code" and type the 6 digits into the TV device.
Content takes over 30 seconds to appear
First load can take longer due to image/video sync. From the second load it's instant. If after 1 minute it still doesn't appear, check the device is paired (web panel → Devices → should be green).
Watermark doesn't disappear after paying Starter
Plan change takes 5-10 minutes to propagate to the device. If after 15 min it still shows the watermark, restart the app (Home button → long press → close). If it persists, contact support via chat.
What's next: the first 30 days
Install is just the start. Here are the milestones we recommend for the first 30 days:
- Days 1-3: try different templates for your vertical. Change the first content 2-3 times to see how customers respond.
- Days 4-7: add 3-5 pieces of content rotating every 8 seconds. See what gets attention (walkers, questions).
- Days 8-15: schedule a real flash or event with countdown. Measure if associated sales go up.
- Days 16-30: if it's working, move to Starter (€9/mo) to drop the watermark, and consider a second screen in another zone (Pro €19/mo).
The timer starts now
1 minute to create the account. 5 more minutes for pairing and first customisation.
