Every vendor says easy.
Four questions that settle it

Setup time is the least useful number in this category — everyone quotes five minutes. These are the questions that actually separate a tool you can run yourself from one that needs somebody else.

Can you buy the player in a normal shop?

Ask what hardware the screen runs on. If the answer is a branded box you can only buy from that vendor, you are locked in at the hardware layer before you have shown a single slide. Digisini runs on a Chromecast with Google TV or a Fire TV Stick you buy anywhere for around 30-40 pounds, and if you leave, the stick still works for everything else.

What happens on the day you want to stop?

Ask whether cancelling is a button or a phone call, and whether the content survives. Ours is a button, there is no notice period and no minimum term; the account drops to the free tier with a watermark and everything you built stays where it is. That answer is easy to give when it is true and awkward when it is not.

Who has to approve it before you can start?

A tool is only easy if you can run the trial without opening a ticket. There is no installer to schedule, no agent to push to a machine and no onboarding call to sit through — you sign up, open the browser on the TV and type a PIN. Fourteen days, no card.

And the honest limits: we have no installer network, so nobody comes to mount the screen or run the cable. There is no dedicated onboarding manager and no phone line — support is written, from Europe. If what you need is somebody on site in Manchester on Tuesday, that is a different kind of supplier and we would rather say so now.

Everything is easy during the demonstration
the test is the second month

Easy is the most used word in this business and the least verifiable. There is, however, a way to measure it that requires no technical knowledge at all, and it can be done before signing anything.

Ask what happens when the person who set it up is away

Every product here is simple to start: plug it in, switch it on, upload an image. The difficulty arrives in week three, when something needs changing and whoever configured it is on holiday. A system is easy when that change is made by whoever is there, not by whoever knows. That distinction never shows in a demonstration, because the demonstration is always given by the one person who knows the tool best — precisely the person who will not be there that Tuesday.

Have somebody else do it, in front of you

Ask for a line to be changed while you watch, but do not ask the salesperson: ask a member of your own team, unaided and without prompting. If they manage it in a minute, the product is easy for your business. If somebody has to stand beside them, it is easy for whoever sold it. The test costs nothing, takes a minute and can be run during the demonstration itself — and nobody ever offers it, which tells you something on its own.

From a phone, standing up, with people waiting

Nobody updates a screen sitting calmly at a desk. It happens behind the counter, one-handed, with somebody waiting to be served. Anything that requires sitting down at a computer gets postponed until tomorrow, and by tomorrow the board is wrong. So the useful question is not "is it easy to update", which has no answer, but "can it be updated from a phone, standing, in under a minute" — which can be answered yes or no, and checked on the spot.

Recovering on its own is part of easy

The power goes and comes back, and the screen has to return to your content with nobody touching anything. If it needs a remote, a password or a person, the system is easy right up until something happens — and something always happens. Test it deliberately on day one: unplug it, plug it back in, and count the seconds. It is the only check on this page that can be run before paying anything, provided it is asked for during the trial.

Ask any supplier what happens in the second month, when the person who set it up is on holiday and something needs changing. The answer to that question tells you more about how easy a product actually is than any demonstration, because a demonstration is always given by the one person who knows it best.

Nobody touches this every day
and what you do not use, you do not learn

Something gets changed when there is a promotion, when the menu changes or when somebody new starts: every few weeks, not every morning.

A system used once every six weeks is not learned: it is either remembered or it is not. Anything touched daily ends up being learned even when it is awkward, because repetition makes up for everything. Here there is no repetition to make up for anything. Between one time and the next, six weeks have passed, there has been a holiday, and the afternoon shift has changed hands. That is not an edge case: that is the normal use of a screen.

Which makes the learning curve almost beside the point. Anything can be learned in two hours, and every demonstration happens with it freshly explained. The question that actually decides is a different one: how much of it is still standing three months later, when you open it in a hurry on a Thursday, without the person who showed you, and with the old poster already up. A system that performs well in a demo can be the worst possible one at that particular moment.

And what makes a tool memorable is not its manual. It is that the route is always the same — the same steps, in the same place, not depending on where you were — and that the last thing you published is right there to be copied and have two words changed. Nobody remembers a sequence of steps after three months; everybody recognises something they have already done once. Duplicating is the form of memory that actually works.

Straight with you: there is no way to prove this in half an hour, and be suspicious of anyone who says there is. The only honest version is that you do it today, leave it alone for six weeks and come back — and that nobody charges you until then.

No. The player is a Chromecast with Google TV or a Fire TV Stick bought from any normal retailer, and it stays yours. Older casting-only Chromecast models will not work, because the screen needs a real browser rather than a cast target. Any TV with an HDMI port does the rest, including the one already on the wall.
Neither. You cancel from the panel and it takes effect at the end of the month you already paid for; there is no notice period and nobody calls you to talk you out of it. If you come back later your playlists and media are still there, because the account moves to the free tier rather than being deleted.
Written, in English, from Europe, and we answer in working hours rather than instantly. There is no phone number and no dedicated account manager on the smaller plans, which is part of why it costs nine euros and not ninety. Most questions are about the TV input or the Wi-Fi rather than about the software.
Ask for a line to be changed while you watch, but not by the salesperson — by a member of your own team, unaided. If they manage in a minute it is easy for your business; if somebody has to stand beside them, it is easy for whoever sold it. The test takes a minute and can be run during the demonstration.
Not whether it is easy to update, which has no answer, but whether it can be updated from a phone, standing, in under a minute. That is part of what easy means. The screen has to return to your content with nobody touching anything; if it needs a remote, a password or a person, the system is easy until something happens. Test it deliberately on day one by unplugging it and counting the seconds.
